Otherwise the difficulty scales up with levels pretty darn fast so that the +35 eventually doesn't matter much at all in comparison. Point Lookout can be done early on if you're good, but the +35 damage boost the enemies receive doesn't scale so it hurts a lot more early on. This is done by not taking any combat skills for any levels before I enter the simulation, then putting all points into combat skills while in the simulation. What gets plugged into the simulator is a weak little gearhead, what comes out is a certified badass bookworm. ![]() Then they hear a radio message and get led to the outpost and get involved with the Outcasts. I tend to play non-combatant gearheads (Int 9, Lockpick, Repair, and Science tagged) who start out with no more combat experince than a little target shooting with the old man and some baseball practice, so I usually play them as rather panicky and inept at first. The Outcasts generally keep the super mutants busy, so it's really just overcoming raiders and ghouls to get there.Īlthough the gear is pretty good, the reason I do this is actually pretty simple: roleplaying. As a rule, I always do Anchorage early (level 2), if at all.
